Brief Job Description
Reporting to the Financial and Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the day to day accounting functions for the operations at Donald’s Fine Foods in Richmond and assisting in the preparation of financial statements and results for the Company. This position is responsible for ensuring the preparation and delivery of accurate financial and costing reports, and working to improve understanding of key business drivers and to maximize results. Identification and implementation of best practices comprise a key component of this role.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Manage vendor invoices and statements. Ensures proper approval is obtained before processing
- Reviews invoices to check for reasonable service/ goods and pricing.
- Checks for appropriate supporting documentation.
- Ensures proper GL coding for invoices for accurate reporting.
- Follows up and resolve irregularities in vendor statement.
- Regularly reviews accounts payable ledgers. .
- Optimizes payment processes to take full advantage of vendor terms and payment discounts.
- Regularly reviews the processes and policies for improvements and more efficient ways to perform the tasks.
- Daily and weekly vendor EFT batch review and setup.
Inventory Control
- Performs daily inventory intercompany transfer transactions.
- Reviews inventory receiving accuracy, ensures proper physical inventory intercompany transfer is performed by the logistic team, resolve issues if any.
- Follows up with daily dock missing inventory.
- Performs ERP 3rd party meat inventory receiving, verify receiving record against vendor invoice before processing.
- Handles 3rd party meat inventory return / refund process.
- Ensures regular cycle count is performed.
- Performs reasonable inventory management system inventory deletion.
- Monitors inventory FIFO process.
- Generates periodic inventory status report to production / sales team.
- Follows up and resolves inaccurate inventory level and old date inventory issues.
Month End Process
- Handles monthly inventory freezing.
- Performs monthly inventory reconciliation, resolve any discrepancies found.
- Reviews and performs monthly WIP calculation, Dry goods consumption / valuation, inventory valuation.
- Enters monthly standard financial and statistics journals.
- Performs GL reconciliation.
- Performs bank reconciliation.
- Revalues bank for general ledger, AR and AP.
- Performs monthly accrual.
- Performs cost statement analysis, makes necessary adjustments and looks for potential cost savings.
- Maintains Company assets book.
Financial and KPIs reporting
- Generates periodic critical number report.
- Generates periodic inventory report.
- Generates periodic sales summary report.
- Generates periodic plants cost statement.
- Generates periodic plants balanced scorecard.
- Ad Hoc reporting and analysis.
Budgeting
- Prepares annual budgeting templates, works with the plant managers and respective departments to ensure reasonable budgeting.
External Auditing
- Prepares, reviews and submits external audit requested information.
- Performs necessary adjustments and processes improvements if any.
General Support Function
- Finds and uses accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies.
- Generates ad hoc reports and analysis as requested.
- Performs filing and general administrative tasks.
- Liaises with other departments/customers/vendors.
- Other duties as required.
Position Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Completion of accounting bachelor’s degree and in the pursuit of CPA.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Team player.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin/Cantonese.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
- Typically works Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00pm with some weekend requirements.
