The Human Resources Generalist plays a key advisory role in the Human Resources department of Britco Pork. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the Employee and Labour relations processes and functions. The incumbent will also provide analysis, development, and writing of policies, procedures, and best practices. He or she will manage the performance management, training, leave of absence, attendance and other programs in conjunction with the plant operations team.
In addition to keeping current with all applicable laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established policies and procedures of Britco Pork. The Human Resources Generalist will have excellent communication skills and will maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees.

HRIS system maintenance
Support and back up HR Recruiter
New hire orientation and onboarding program administration
Policy writing, research, develop, implement and evaluate.
Knowledge of compensation structures for unionized employees;
Data collection, analysis, and management for the Human Resources Department.
Benchmarking and measuring the effectiveness of HR processes.
Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, collective agreement and best practices.
Adhere to legislation such as the Human Rights Act and Labour Standards Act.
Maintain employee records in ADP for all unionized employees
Manage and track HR metrics in ADP and on company-specific reports for HR
Maintain a strong customer service relationship with customers
Advise on and uphold company policies and procedures (including collective agreement) for all unionized staff.
Strategically plan for the organization’s human capital needs, in concert with other managers
Leave of Absence Management
Support Managers and stakeholders with progressive discipline and performance review processes
Assist in the investigation and reporting of accidents/incidents.
Assist OH&S Manager with WCB Claim management.
Facilitate documentation and outcomes of the RTW and Light Duty Programs at Britco
Recruitment and Retention
Knowledge of internal alignment processes, job analysis, and ability to analyze these processed and provide recommendations.
Monitor external market.
Deliver all new hire orientations as well as occupational health and safety training to new hires.
Conduct exit interviews.
Support HR Coordinator in full cycle recruitment process for Britco Pork as required
Lead all salary recruitment and cycle process for non-union positions
Employee Welfare / Training and Development
Provide analysis, development and writing of reports.
Participate and lead all investigations, partner with Plant Managers, Supervisors and union
Conduct performance management evaluations and succession planning.
Support SR HR Manager in Talent Management, Succession planning for union and non-union positions
Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team.
Labour relations management with plant management
Inform employees about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion.
Advise managers on organizational matters such as discrimination, discipline, harassment, etc.
Organize and maintain reporting on training initiatives and other employee life cycle events
Special projects as assigned
- CHRP designation preferred.
- Post Secondary diploma in (Human Resources Management).
- University degree in Business Management or Labour Relations preferred.
- 3-5 years Human Resources experience.
- Ability to work well under pressure, individually, and as part of a team.
- Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
